Fragrance of the Moment

Annick Goutal Un Matin D'Orage Butterfly Eau de Toilette (2009)(Image: Vogue.co.uk)

Described as "A unique interpretation of the gardenia perfume, after a summer storm", Neiman Marcus lists the following: Notes of magnolia, jasmine sambac from Mysore, Sicilian lemon, Indonesian champac, green perilla leaves, and ginger.

On Annick Goutal's website, I learned the following: "20 years after Gardénia Passion, created by Annick Goutal back from a trip to Japan, her daughter, Camille, composes, after a stay in this country, Un Matin d'Orage. That of a Japanese garden after the rain : a fresh and dewy scent, when the sun's rays are piercing the balmy mist that rises from the rain-drenched earth."

If I could scent Chelsea Clinton for her wedding day, I just might pick Un Matin D'Orage. A fresh and sweet, watery, Green jasmine scent, I think it smells pretty, clean and bright, like Marc Jacobs Blush (2004). If you like transparent white floral blends such as Kate Spade (2002), and citrusy ones like Love by Kilian (2007) and Guerlain Les Voyages Olfactifs Tokyo (2009), you'll like this. If you like Blush and already own it, you could think of it as Blush in a girly bottle for a change of pace.
