Dispatches: ‘Irish and Queer’ in NY St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Via Human Rights Watch: "In contrast to previous years, the leadership of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York welcomed the inclusion of LGBT groups into the parade. This year’s grand marshal, Cardinal Archbishop of New York Timothy Dolan, said he thought “the decision is a wise one.” Despite criticism from some Catholic groups, Dolan made clear that “people with same-sex attraction are God’s children, deserving dignity and respect, never to be treated with discrimination or injustice.”" Read the article: Dispatches: ‘Irish and Queer’ in NY St. Patrick’s Day Parade by Celso Perez, March 16, 2015

I'm an EII INFJ subtype EIE ENFJ! Take the Socionics Nonverbal Test

My doodle :*-(

Well, I don't know if after taking the new Socionics Nonverbal Test by Olga Tangemann of the School of Associative Socionics, that Olga will agree with the result of her own brand new test, but I got EII, not LII. That matches up perfectly with my EII result on her Associative Test as well. Couple that with an EIE subtype and you've got quite the emotive, animated character that I am! So I believe my results are correct, and her tests are accurate, well worth taking!

As I had commented in her Facebook group, I think sometimes the logic we perceive is rationality.

Ormonde Jayne Frangipani, Champaca, Ta'if

Ormonde Jayne Frangipani, Champaca and Ta'if are three of my favorite fragrances in the stunning Ormonde Jayne Discovery set besides Orris Noir. The first two are the lightest, most liltingly floral offerings in the set, and are perfect for the upcoming spring. Of these, Frangipani is a distinctively flowery scent while Champaca is more of a fruity floral.

Frangipani: The white flowers presented here are not very sweet, but more of a crisp, clean white floral rendering. Well-tempered but characterized by a slightly spicy edge as most of the fragrances in the Ormonde Jayne line are, Frangipani could be a less musky, smidgen sweeter version of Kate Middleton's wedding perfume of soapy white flowers devoid of lush, tropical sensuality. There is instead a lily note that adds a feminine floralcy. My first impression was that it leaned green floral, which could be a combination of lily and lime blossom that I'm smelling. A faint fruit note is also present, which could be a creamy plumsicle.

Champaca is also not the heady scent you might expect from an exotic flower note, but an elegant fruity floral reminiscent of peaches and cream. It's not very sweet at all; Benefit Maybe Baby it is not, but the fruitiness I get is far from the official notes which include green tea and rice.

You might prefer one of the more plush, richer fragrances in the collection such as Tolu (which is powdery, spicy, relatively sweet, and reminds me of Fifi Chachnil or Houbigant Chantilly) or the gorgeous Ta'if, a warm and heady, beautiful blend of rose. If anyone remembers the scented body lotion I wished I could find in perfume form (the one I wrote made me think of Turkish Delight candies), the notes I believe were rose, orange blossom and ambery woods (sandalwood). It looks like I finally found that scent! Funny though, as I smell green tea in Ta'if...maybe that note I pick up on is a sort of tea rose--a sensual, edible one.

March 2015 Top Fragrance Favorites List

Image: Fragrantica

The last freezing cold day of winter has hopefully passed us by, and I'm excited about spring up ahead. My fragrance of the moment is Demeter Strawberry Ice Cream, a simple and fun strawberry lip gloss-scented gourmand. I love it, but the cologne I have is kind of dark red, and I'm a little afraid to spray it on my white fabrics (yes, I've taken to spritzing sheets, not just freshly showered skin, and in case you were wondering, I still don't spray my clothes). I've seen photos of this scent that appear clear-colored, so maybe I should look into one of those. I'm so into the strawberry note right now, I thought about revisiting Victoria's Secret Strawberries and Champagne, and trying the strawberry body mist by The Body Shop (I'm also intrigued by their new nail polish line, in particular Pink Cream), but the VS isn't milky like the Demeter, and the reviews for the Body Shop mist say it's essentially a grown up strawberry scent--no thanks, there's no fun in that, and I can't help but feel fun is what's missing in perfume launches for the past couple of years I've been out of the loop. I want a sweet and girlish strawberry, not strawberry leaves, strawberry cocktails, strawberry woods and incense smoke. I'm so satisfied by the Demeter right now, I no longer miss my sweet little sample of Molinard Fraise.

That doesn't mean I'm going to stop looking for strawberries (and coconuts, still an on-going love) to add to my spring wardrobe, especially since these scents get raves from someone whose opinion actually matters.

Something I noticed recently, too: Britney Spears Fantasy smells of violets. Come to think of it, the hot pink bottle is somewhat purple-leaning. I didn't know I could love a violet perfume as much as I do, as this has become sort of a staple.

My early March list:

1. Demeter Strawberry Ice Cream
2. Britney Spears Fantasy
3. Cacharel Gloria
4. Creed Virgin Island Water
5. Creed Spring Flower
6. Bath & Body Works Coconut Lime Breeze
